Our Story

SINCE 1944, we’ve been meeting 11-19 year olds in pivotal moments, introducing them to the hope of Christ.
From holding rallies with Billy Graham in the 40’s, to entering campuses to reach students in the 60’s, to now empowering community leaders to build meaningful relationships with young people everywhere—it’s our aim to walk with young people through their story, and to be the friend and mentor that we’ve longed for ourselves. When we welcome God into a pivotal moment, we invite Him to uncover His story of Hope in our lives, and to give life to our story. He is the life in all of our stories.

In 1994, a group of concerned, Christian men and women in the Jamestown area began praying and seeking God’s direction in how they could assist the church in reaching young people who were without faith in Christ or otherwise outside the faith community. God answered that prayer in the form of Youth for Christ. A Board of Directors was established and James Valley Youth for Christ was incorporated in 1995.

Soon after, a small amount of ministry began with volunteers and eventually paid staff. Campus Life Clubs were soon established as well as large events and partnerships with several churches in the area.

An after-school drop-in center, TEEN CITY, was opened in 2005. It has become a major piece of YFC ministry in Jamestown and very popular among students as well as parents.

We also have staff and a satellite ministry in the Valley City area. Through TEEN CITY, Campus Life Clubs, Bible studies, trips, and much more, James Valley YFC continues to reach youth for Christ. Join us, won’t you, in making a difference in the lives of youth.
