I was born and raised in Minot, ND and married my high school sweetheart, Sheri, who I met at a YFC event.  We have four awesome children and three beautiful grand kids.  I have always enjoyed working with my hands, so after a year at Minot State University, I went to school at NDSCS to become a professional upholsterer.  I have also attended Lee University, Trinity Bible College and Univeristy of Jamestown. I owned and operated an upholstery shop in Minot for 9 years before going into the ministry full-time.  My wife and I enjoyed our time as students in YFC and volunteered with Minot YFC for many years, teaching clubs and chaperoning youth trips. The call on my life became stronger and stronger until I closed my shop in 1995. God did not disappoint, I was soon hired as the JV Ministry Coordinator at Minot YFC.  I worked there for two years before accepting God’s call to move to Jamestown in 1997 as Executive Director.  I received my Credentials with YFC/USA in 1998.  I love to teach the Word to youth and enjoy the freedom of being creative with ministry opportunities.  TEEN CITY, our student drop-in center, has been a dream come true for me and I enjoy seeing it so active and alive with students.  I still love working with my hands and also have a small business in landscape photography, called Dakota Focus Photography, (I'm on Facebook)  I’ll build, make or fix just about anything and you just might convince me to do some upholstery for you if you catch me when I’m not too busy, good luck with that!

  • Mary Joy

TEEN CITY/TEEN CITY 2.0 Ministry Assistant

Hello, my name is Mary Joy. I was born and raised right here in Jamestown and graduated from the University of Jamestown. I majored in Fine Arts with a Christian Ministry minor. I enjoy singing, playing trumpet and arts and crafts. I also enjoy making a good cup of coffee at our local coffee shop, Babbs!  I attend J1Naz (First Church of the Nazarene) on Sundays. I love hanging out with students! As a kid, I attended Youth for Christ and I understand the importance of that work that we do! Jesus can change lives! My roles include staffing both the Middle and High School Teen City programs, as well as leading music and teaching at Campus Life Clubs.

  • Cassia Schlenker

    Ministry Assistant/Core Leader

I was born into a family of 13 and raised on a large cattle-ranch and diversified grain farm just 20 miles from Jamestown, ND. I was blessed with a godly family who brought me up in church but I didn’t fall in love with Jesus until I was an older teen.  Over the last seven years, I have spent much of my time helping with the seasonal work on the ranch, growing my cattle herd, working in music and youth ministry within my local church, spending time with my family, and developing my cooking and baking skills. In 2013, I attended my first Youth for Christ banquet in Jamestown. I was captivated by all that I saw and heard, and at that very moment, I felt a tugging on my heart. I knew there and then that God wanted me to be a part of what He was doing at Youth For Christ. Soon after, I became a volunteer at TEEN CITY, and well, the rest is history. God allowed me to be a volunteer at YFC for almost 5 years, and now He’s given me the opportunity to be a part of this ministry as a paid staff member. I am so grateful and humbled by His constant faithfulness. I can’t wait to see what He’s going to teach me about Himself, as I continue to share the love of Jesus with these kids each day.

  • Isaiah Ryan

    Valley City Ministry Coordinator

I'm excited to be the Ministry Coordinator for YFC in the Valley City area.  I’m from the Valley City area and have lived here almost my entire life on a 10-acre plot north of Valley. I felt God's call to youth ministry when I was a senior in high school and continued to serve Him throughout my college years at Valley City State.

I’ve had the opportunity to participate with a Christian organization called Tent Makers. I did their Year On Mission program and worked with youth in a Wisconsin community for nine months. I also spent a month in the Czech Republic. I attend Connect Church in Valley City and help with the youth ministry there.

I’m excited to use the skills and training I learned with my Tent Makers Year on Mission as well as the training I've already received through YFC. You'll find me at the Teen Center every Tuesday night at 7 pm doing YFC ministry called Campus Life. I can’t wait to see what God has planned for me in this ministry and the community. If you know a 7th - 12th grade student in the Valley City area, please let them know they're welcome to attend.
